01.05.23 Shrews v Rovers Match Preview

Rovers travel to Shropshire tomorrow night to take on Shrewsbury Town at Montgomery Waters Meadow (kick-off 7.45pm).

Fresh from a point at play-off-chasing Peterborough United on Saturday, the Gas will be looking to build on this result to finish their away campaign on a high.

Earlier this season, the two teams played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at The Memorial Stadium, with Ryan Loft opening the scoring.

Shrewsbury Town come into the game without a win in their last eight, and no clean sheet in their last 11.

“I’m not sure who it was that put the fixtures together, but they certainly weren’t a Shrewsbury fan,” said Shrews boss Steve Cotterill.

“It feels like we haven’t had a game lately where we feel we have been fresh and it’s maybe someone in and around us, rather than those teams at the top.

“We just seem to have had those top teams back-to-back lately – they haven’t been spread out. We’ll be back in this week for these last two games (against Rovers and Lincoln) and I know the lads will be committed right to the end. Everything feels like it is uphill at the moment and it’s been tough, but we are also tough and we will see it out.”
