Attacking Midfielder Nia Rees Joins Bristol Rovers Women

Nia Rees signing a contract

Bristol Rovers Women are thrilled to announce the signing of Nia Rees, a talented attacking midfielder, who has been playing tier 3 football in Wales, for Cardiff City and Swansea City.

"From the very first session, I was impressed by the high standard of coaching at Bristol Rovers Women. The intensity of each session is something I appreciate. There’s a big team of staff here, which is reassuring as it shows the club's commitment to providing support and knowledge in various areas of the game. The club’s ambition to progress and its significant development each year greatly influenced my decision to join.

I want to play as much football as I can and help the team in any way to do as best as they can in this league. My favourite moment in my career was representing my country playing football, which taught me good discipline, professionalism, and how to play at the highest level."

Manager Nathan Hallett-Young on Nia Rees:

“Nia brings in another level of experience and is another player that's been playing tier 3 football over in Wales. You can just see there's talent there in Nia; she picks up the ball and things happen.

She’s amazing in the attacking midfield role just behind the striker where she can pick up the ball in spaces and make things happen.

Nia ticks all those boxes for us. You can see that she just wants to get on the ball, or if she loses it or if we've lost it in the midfield, she wants to get back on the ball as quickly as possible.

She is one of those players that is a driving factor in making sure that our standards stay high, but also that we retain the ball.

She’s come out of her shell in training, and that level of talent has just gone up and up and up, and it's been brilliant to watch.

Off the pitch, her experience of knowing a higher level is going to be key to us, calming the dressing room down, and making sure that we can stick to the objectives we have for the season."
