Bristol Rovers is delighted to announce the signing of striker Promise Omochere from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.
Omochere has signed a three-year contract at Rovers, with the option of a fourth season, and becomes the Gas’ eleventh signing of the summer.
A pacey attacker with an eye for goal, Omochere moves to Bristol Rovers after two seasons in Sky Bet League One with The Fishermen.
“I’m really excited and really, really happy to be here,” the 23-year-old said. “I’m delighted to get the deal done and over the line.
“There is a lot of ambition here. There is a clear plan for myself, coming into the team, and I think the style of play is going to really suit me. That was one of the reasons that I chose Rovers, in that there is a clear plan. It’s a really exciting move.
“I’m really excited to show what I can do, and I want to kick on and really help the club by scoring goals.”
Manager Matt Taylor is thrilled to add Omochere to the squad and believes the forward will bring an additional dimension to the attacking line.
Taylor said: “We are delighted to welcome Promise to Bristol Rovers. Promise has fantastic attributes, which he showed in both games against us last season, and which we look forward to developing during his time with us.
“He has shown his attacking ability over the last two seasons in League One and, at 23 years old, has a lot of room to grow and become even better.
“Promise will provide balance and competition to an exciting group of attacking players, and will be an important addition to our forward line and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Omochere spent time in the St Joseph's Boys and University College Dublin teams at youth level before signing for Bohemians senior team in 2018. He made his debut in September 2018 in a 3-1 win away to St Pat’s, providing an assist in his twelve-minute cameo.
The attacker became a consistent figure in the first team squad at the start of the 2018/19 season, scoring his first league goal for Bohemians in a 5-1 win against Dundalk in May 2021.
With eleven goals and eight assists in 55 appearances, Omochere earned a transfer to Fleetwood Town in July 2022. The attacker made an immediate impact, providing an assist on his first League One appearance for the side away to Port Vale.
Omochere became a pivotal figure in the Fleetwood team throughout the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, scoring seven goals in his first campaign in all competitions and six in the next.
The 23-year-old joins Rovers with 24 goals in 123 club career appearances so far.
