Bristol Rovers Women retain centre back Katie Davies

Katie Davies re-signs!

Bristol Rovers Women are delighted to announce that Katie Davies has re-signed for the 24/25 season!

"I decided to extend my stay because of the aspirations and the goals that the club have after the recent success of winning the league.

"After having a personal tough start to the season after taking time away from Rovers, the support I have received coming back is the best I’ve ever had and they really take pride in ensuring all players especially have all the support they need to thrive.

"I see my role evolving by being a leader, particularly across the defensive line. I believe that throughout the past couple of seasons, people have noticed a growth in my confidence.

"As having experience in national league, organisation across the formation is crucial, and as a CB you are able to see the whole pitch to help give instructions and support all players on the pitch.

"I plan to mentor and support the younger and new players by ensuring that they feel welcomed into the club to begin with, to create this unique and fun team culture where we can trust each other and push each other to develop, which in return will help us get the results we need".

Manager Nathan Hallett-Young on Katie Davies:

"Katie returned halfway through last season. At the beginning of the season, we didn't want to let her go, but we understood her need to test herself at the next level. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for her, but we are ecstatic to have her back with us.

"We are aware of the high caliber of player she is; we know that she can compete at a high level. She has demonstrated her strong defensive skills and her calmness on the ball, making her a key player in our build-up play. Additionally, she is strong both on the ground and in the air.

"Her experience and knowledge of moving up to a higher division is a positive for us. She was a major factor in our solid defense last season, helping us keep clean sheet after clean sheet.

"I know she is young, but she is more than capable of playing in a higher division. I'm excited to see how she continues on her current path. We are providing strong support and building individualised profiles for each player to help them develop. She absorbs information well and will continue to progress."
