Bristol Rovers Women are delighted to announce the signing of experienced defender Charlotte Buxton.

Charlotte joins the club with a wealth of experience from her previous stints at Yeovil, Bridgewater, and Cheltenham.

Buxton expressed her excitement about joining the team, saying, "The moment I met the staff and players I was made very welcome. I was impressed with their professionalism and was excited about the plans. Along with their ambitions, the facilities are incredible so the decision didn't take long to make!"

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Charlotte has clear goals for her role in the team. "My personal goal for the season would be to play a big part in helping keep clean sheets. I am also going to get behind the squad, encouraging players to be the best they can be," she said.

Reflecting on her career, Buxton highlighted her proudest moment. "My proudest career moment has to be playing professionally in WSL and making my debut against Arsenal at 17. It’s helped me gain a lot of experience at a young age, dealing with high-pressure games against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United," she shared.

Manager Nathan Hallett-Young expressed his excitement about Charlotte's addition, saying, "Charlotte is a huge signing for us - it's great to see that she is stepping down from Step 3 into Step 4. She's going to be key to how we perform, and how we defend our goal. She is somebody who's a fighter and consistent in terms of not giving strikers a moment's peace."

Charlotte's impact is already being felt during training sessions. "She's already causing problems for our strikers, we know the level of what they can achieve," Nathan noted. "We're excited to see how she'll step into the group and show what she's worth."

With Charlotte's reputation in women's football, her arrival brings considerable strength to the team both on and off the pitch. "I think for us, it's another marquee signing. It's a bigger name within the wider scope of women's football, and it's adding some real strength to our squad," Nathan added.

Having discussed her aspirations and attitude, Nathan is confident in Charlotte's winning mentality. "Having spoken with her, it's clear to see that she is a winner, you can just see that from her. She's played at really high levels, and she just wants to be able to get into a place to enjoy her football, but also win games."

Nathan emphasized the importance of fostering a winning mentality throughout the team. "We’re trying to make sure that we have winners across the pitch that are not going to rest on their laurels to make sure that we don't lose games or we're not missing out on points. I feel like she's gonna be one of the catalysts for that, and I'm excited to see how she progresses."
