Clinton Mola believes that Bristol Rovers’ Sky Bet League One game against Crawley Town is a good opportunity to collect a victory.
The Gas are playing their final of four successive fixtures across all competitions at The Memorial Stadium, recently earning a 1-1 draw with promotion pushing Lincoln City. Shaq Forde netted his second goal for Rovers with a fantastic strike from range, but Jack Moylan’s leveller after the break ensured the contest ended equal.
The Pirates have been formidable at home for most of the campaign in the third tier and have won four of their seven outings. Matt Taylor’s men collected clean sheets against Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town, with Mola playing an integral role in the defence.
He insisted that his side have trained well during the week and are looking to continue their positive home form.
“Training has been good,” said Mola. “The lads have been preparing well for Saturday. We’re excited going into the weekend and it’s a good opportunity for us to pick up a win and definitely three points at home.
“Our home form has been good. We need to improve our away form, but our home form is good, and we’re trying to turn The Mem into a fortress. So, as long as we can keep picking up wins and points at home, that’s the main thing.”
Mola signed for Rovers after leaving Reading in the summer and has been a constant figure in the team. He has started 13 of the Gas’ 14 league games this season, with only Josh Griffiths and James Wilson collecting more minutes this campaign.
The defender has played in multiple positions this term and thanked manager Matt Taylor for his trust.
“I’m grateful, but I’ve just tried to keep working hard every day and every game,” he said. “I’m grateful to the gaffer for giving me the opportunity to keep playing. It’s up to me to show what I can do and to show up for the fans as well.
“I don’t really have a favourite position. Wherever the gaffer tells me to play on the weekend, I will do it. Whether it’s left-back or left centre-back, I don’t mind either one, and I’m comfortable in both.”
Crawley are in the relegation zone after accumulating 12 points from 15 matches but have shown an upturn in form recently, earning draws against Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion as well as winning 3-0 against Lincoln in their previous four.
Mola identified the Red Devils’ quality but maintained that the focus should be on his side's performance.
“We know that they are a team that will try and keep the ball,” he said. “So, the main thing on Saturday is about us, what we do and how we can pick up all three points.”
