Connor Taylor confessed the players were frustrated after Bristol Rovers drew 0-0 with Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One.
Despite failing to win on the road, the Gas ended their three-game losing streak after earning a point against the Shrews at The Croud Meadow.
Adding Promise Omochere after the break, Rovers created the better chances in an open second half, with both teams looking to break the deadlock in a battle towards the bottom of the table.
The Pirates are now three points clear of the relegation zone after all the other teams other than Shrewsbury lost, with the Gas now facing back-to-back home games against Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers.
Taylor was disappointed with the result but admitted the point could prove to be massive at the end of the season.

“We’re all frustrated in there, but it’s important not to get too down,” he said. ‘We know the situation we’re in. Every point matters, and that could prove to be a vital point come the end of the season. I think it was one of those games that could have gone either way. We huffed and puffed and created a few chances, a few goalmouth scrambles that could have gone in, but the same goes for them.
‘It’s a tough place to come. They’ve beaten a few big teams here, so we’ve got to see the positives. It’s a clean sheet away from home. We’ve not had enough of them. It’s a point, and at the end of the day, it might be a big point.”
Taylor returned to the team after missing the 3-2 defeat to Rotherham United due to injury. He was at the heart of a three-centre-back formation, with Rovers keeping their first clean sheet since beating Cambridge United away from home at the start of January.
The former Stoke City man emphasised the importance of shutouts and reflected on the formation change.
“It gives you a right chance if you can keep the backdoor shut, and I thought we did that tonight,” said Taylor. “We just couldn’t quite find that final killer pass to put us ahead.
“It was fine. We’re pretty adaptable. We’ve changed to that shape numerous times since the manager has come in during the game, and he’s decided to go with that today from the start. I think we got out pretty well. Whether that be me, Sil Swinkels or James Wilson. It's a new shape. We’re adaptable.”
Rovers have 12 matches left to play in League One this campaign and are sitting just above the relegation zone. There will be plenty of twists and turns heading towards the end of the season, with Taylor stating the team must stick together.
“I’ll be honest, there’s been massive frustration this year,” he said. “It’s got to mean the absolute world. First and foremost, we’ve got to be a team. We won’t get anywhere with any individuals, and I thought the fans that came could see that we gave everything there tonight. I’m gutted we couldn’t send them home with three points, but it’s another point.
“If we play to what we think we can do, especially at home, we’ve shown we can get results against anyone. We’ll be going to The Mem on Saturday confident, and we’ll be well prepared for it.”
