Former Players Association hosts Annual Golf Day

Golf Day winners

The sixth Bristol Rovers Former Players Association Annual Golf Day was held at the Kendleshire Golf Club on Wednesday 12 June.

As in previous years the weather was kind to us and all rounds were completed in warm sunshine. It was a pleasure and a delight to welcome all of our teams and especially good to have amongst us Bobby Gould, Harold Jarman and Tom Stanton.

For the second year running, Bristol City also entered a team; we will reciprocate by taking part in their forthcoming Golf Day. Unfortunately, neither Mo Bell nor Keith Brookman were able to join us and their usual contributions were greatly missed but thanks to Geoff Smith for stepping in as our photographer.

Whilst the taking part was the most important aspect of the day the teams entered the clubhouse eagerly awaiting the results but not before they enjoyed a splendid buffet and barbeque provided by the Golf Club, who once again proved to be fantastic hosts. We thank them for helping to make the day the success it was.

In conclusion, we cannot forget to mention Bobby Gould who celebrated his birthday with us today and it was a surprise when he was presented with a birthday cake.

A few beers were had in the clubhouse before we departed having caught up with old friends and made new ones during the day.

Special thanks go to Mo Bell for organising the event even though she was unable to attend on the day, Geoff Smith for taking the photos, to all who took part and to the Kendleshire for being marvellous hosts. We look forward to doing it again next year.
