James Bittner appointed Goalkeeping Coach

James Bittner joins Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers is delighted to announce the appointment of James Bittner as the new men’s first-team Goalkeeping Coach.

A former shot-stopper with over 250 professional career appearances, Bittner has represented the likes of Exeter City, Forest Green Rovers, Salisbury City and Hereford United.

Since moving into coaching, the 43-year-old has worked with Newport County, Reading, Cheltenham Town and, most recently, alongside former Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke at Barnsley.

“It’s great to be here at Bristol Rovers,” Bittner said. “Rovers is a Club I’ve known about for a long time and, in my eyes, it’s a bit of a sleeping giant. It’s a Club that has huge potential and I’m excited to be part of that moving forward.

“It’s obviously been a manic few days in terms of the goalkeepers at Bristol Rovers. We have a new group to work with and I’m brand new as well. It’s a fresh start for everyone and that has a lot of benefits to it. We have a good group of young goalkeepers who are all hungry to learn and improve, so it’s an exciting time for all of us.”

Scott Brown has also departed the Head Of Goalkeeping position at the Club. Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to thank Scott for his hard work and efforts, and warmly welcome James to his new role with the Gas.
