Bristol Rovers v Barnsley
Sky Bet League One, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 18 January 2025, 3:00pm
Bristol Rovers will return to The Memorial Stadium attempting to secure their second successive victory in Sky Bet League One when they host Barnsley on Saturday.
The Gas are back in third-tier action after losing 3-0 to Ipswich Town in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup last weekend, with Kalvin Phillips, Jack Clarke and Jack Taylor scoring in the first half for the Premier League side.
Despite Rovers’ recent defeat, the Pirates will gain confidence from their last League One outing, where Luke Thomas scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Cambridge United. It was Iñigo Calderón’s first triumph as the Gas’ new head coach, ending the club's seven-game winless run in the league.
Barnsley’s last game came on Saturday 4 January, where the Tykes beat Crawley Town 3-0 thanks to goals from Jon Russell, Max Watters and Davis Keillor-Dunn.

Opposition...
Barnsley had a two-week rest from playing after their match away to Northampton Town, which was postponed because of a frozen pitch. Darrell Clarke’s men will be excited to return to the pitch after an impressive run of form, where they have won their previous four successive matches in League One.
Since losing three of their first four games at the start of December, the Tykes have beaten Bolton Wanderers, Peterborough United, Wrexham and Crawley to sit comfortably in fifth position, four points inside the playoff positions.
Barnsley have made one addition in the January transfer window so far, adding Neil Farrugia on a free transfer, with the 25-year-old leaving Shamrock Rovers after he made over 120 appearances for the League of Ireland club.
