Burton Albion preview

Bristol Rovers v Burton Albion
Sky Bet League One, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 15 February, 3:00pm

Bristol Rovers will be looking to extend their unbeaten run at The Memorial Stadium to four games when they host Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One.

The Gas earned back-to-back 3-1 home victories against Barnsley and Peterborough United before collecting an impressive point against promotion hopefuls Stockport County on Tuesday night, with Sil Swinkels netting a stoppage-time equaliser on his Rovers debut.

The game against the Brewers presents a different challenge, with Gary Bowyer’s men inside the relegation zone, six points behind the Pirates.

Burton drew 1-1 at home to Blackpool in their previous fixture. Rumarn Burrell’s first-half opener was almost enough to give the Brewers all three points, but they were forced to settle for a draw after Albie Morgan scored a leveller in the final seconds.

Opposition...

Burton are sitting in 23rd position and is four points from safety. However, their form does not represent their position in the table, with the Brewers proving to be formidable opponents for any side they come up against.

Gary Bowyer's men started their run with a 1-1 draw against Crawley Town before winning three successive goals against Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United and Reading, netting nine goals. Two draws followed against Barnsley and Blackpool to get Burton within touching distance of the teams above them.

The Brewers were one of the winners of the January transfer window, adding former Iceland international striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson from Wrexham on a short-term deal. The attacker has already netted four goals. James Jones also moved from the Red Dragons.

They also added plenty of players on loan, with Fabio Tavares, Kyran Lofthouse, JJ McKiernan and Owen Dodgson moving from Coventry City, Barnsley, Lincoln City, and Burnley, respectively.

Danilo Orsi, who scored six goals for Burton this term, departed for League Two outfit MK Dons.
