Huddersfiled Town

Bristol Rovers v Huddersfield Town
Sky Bet League One, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 8 March, 3:00pm KO

Bristol Rovers will attempt to return to winning ways at The Memorial Stadium when they host promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town in Sky Bet League One.

The Gas recovered from a last-minute 3-2 defeat at home to Rotherham United with a 0-0 draw away to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night, ending their three-game losing run in the third tier.

Rovers had been strong at The Mem before losing to the Millers, collecting three wins in four matches after beating Barnsley, Peterborough United and Burton Albion.

The Terriers lost 1-0 to Wrexham in their last outing, with substitute Steven Fletcher striking a second-half winner at the John Smith's Stadium.

Opposition...

Huddersfield are looking to make an immediate return to the Championship under manager Michael Duff after getting relegated from the second tier last term.

The Terriers are sitting in sixth place, just inside the playoffs, after collecting 17 wins from 35 outings. After an indifferent start to the campaign, Huddersfield went on a brilliant 16-game unbeaten run in League One between October and January. After their streak ended at home to Bolton Wanderers, Rovers’ upcoming opponents have struggled to find consistency again.

They have lost five in nine since then, with defeats to Northampton Town and Peterborough Wigan Athletic hampering their promotion hopes.

Despite their form, Huddersfield have won their last two away games on a Saturday and will be looking to win three in a row for the first time since April 2022.

Previous Meetings...

Rovers have struggled against Huddersfield recently and have lost their last two games against the Terriers, with the Gas hoping to avoid a third successive defeat against their next opponents for the first time since 1961.

Huddersfield have also had joy on Rovers’ home turf, winning three of their last four in Bristol (losing one), two more than across their 14 prior meetings with the Gas on their travels (one).

The Pirates' last victory against Huddersfield at The Mem came in 2009, with Jeff Hughes striking a late penalty in a 1-0 win.
