Bristol Street Motors Trophy, The Memorial Stadium, Tuesday 20 August, 7:00pm KO

Bristol Rovers will start their Bristol Street Motors campaign at The Memorial Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s.

The Gas are playing at home for the first time since beating Northampton Town 1-0 on the opening day of the Sky Bet League One season, where Bryant Bilongo scored a stoppage-time winner.

Since then, Matt Taylor’s men lost 2-0 to Cardiff City in the first-round of the Carabao Cup before a 0-0 draw with Rotherham United in the third tier.

As for Spurs, they started their Premier League 2 title defence with a 2-1 win over Chelsea, with Tyrese Hall scoring twice.

Opposition...

Tottenham were superb in the Premier League 2 last campaign, winning fourteen of their twenty outings (including their first eleven) and only lost twice to end the league phase at the top of the table.

Moving onto the elimination play-off, Spurs were victorious against Aston Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea on their route to the final before beating Sunderland 3-1 to win the competition for the first time.

Last season in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, Spurs thrashed Colchester United 5-0 before defeats to Peterborough United and Cambridge United saw them exit at the group stages.

There will be different players in the Spurs squad compared to the previous campaign, with several players moving out on loan or permanently, as well as others training with the senior side.

Previous Meetings...

Persistent standing…
