Burton Albion v Bristol Rovers
Sky Bet League One, Pirelli Stadium, Saturday 5 October 2024

Bristol Rovers will look to continue their winning start to October when they travel to Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One.

The Gas lost all four games in September but started the new month with a 3-2 victory over Charlton Athletic. Scott Sinclair, Jamie Lindsay and James Wilson scored to put the Pirates 3-0 ahead before the Addicks got two late consolation goals.

Rovers have collected ten points from their first nine games and have seven fixtures left to play in October across two competitions.

Burton lost 3-1 to Reading in their previous outing, with Danillo Orsi scoring their only goal.

Opposition...

This is Burton’s seventh consecutive season in League One, and they finished just one place and two points above the relegation zone last campaign.

The Brewers have had a slow start and are without a win in their opening eight fixture, drawing four times to sit two positions above the bottom of the league. Since gaining a point against Rotherham United at the beginning of September, they have lost their previous three fixtures against Barnsley, Blackpool and Reading.

Burton were very busy in the transfer window and made a massive 23 signings. Their most impressive addition was Orsi, who moved permanently after scoring 19 goals in 45 appearances in League Two for Crawley Town last term.

Ben Whitfield and Elliott Watt are the only players to start all eight league games this campaign after moving from Barrow and Salford, respectively.

Previous Meetings...

Rovers have had a difficult time against Burton and have only won one of the previous nine matches against the Brewers. Burton beat the Gas twice last season, winning 4-1 at the Pirelli Stadium before a 2-1 triumph at The Memorial Stadium.

The Pirates last beat Burton away from home in August 2022, with Antony Evans and James Connolly netting before a brace from Aaron Collins helped the Gas claim a 4-0 victory.
