Matt Taylor confirms 2024/25 first-team coaching staff

Bristol Rovers is happy to confirm manager Matt Taylor’s coaching team and support staff ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Wayne Carlisle has been appointed Assistant Manager. Carlisle has worked with Rovers since February, initially joining the Club as an Individual Player Development Coach.

The 44-year-old previously worked with manager Taylor at Rotherham United and has enjoyed an extensive playing career across Rovers, Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient and Exeter City.

Scott Brown joins Rovers as Head Of Goalkeeping. The 39-year-old worked alongside Taylor at Exeter City and Rotherham, and enjoyed an extensive career between the sticks too. 

Brown spent nine years with Cheltenham Town, making 282 appearances and featuring across League One and League Two, and also played for Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale in the EFL and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

David Horseman also moves to Rovers, joining the Club as First-Team Coach. Horseman previously worked in a similar capacity with Southampton and Bristol City, and was first-team manager at Forest Green Rovers in 2023. 

He also served as the head coach of Southampton ‘B’ for four seasons, between 2019-2023.

In addition to the coaching appointments, Andrew Proctor has joined the Club as Head Of Medical. Proctor moves to the Memorial Stadium with a CV that includes experience with Oxford United, Exeter City and Bristol City.

Liam McCartan has also joined Rovers as Head Analyst. McCartan moves to the Club from Swindon Town and has previously worked with Stoke City and the Football Association of Ireland.

As part of the coaching staff reshuffle, Bristol Rovers can confirm that Jamie McAllister, Anssi Jaakola and Kevin Bond have departed the Club.
