Bristol Rovers suffered a 3-1 Sky Bet League One defeat away to Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers had ended a four-game losing run in the third tier with a 2-0 win over Barnsley and scored twice in three first-half minutes to take a comfortable lead.
Matty Pearson powered a close-range effort past Josh Griffiths following a corner, and Callum Marshall drilled an accurate strike into the bottom corner.
Bojan Radulovic then netted his first goal of the season with a simple finish to give the hosts a three-goal advantage before Isaac Hutchinson came off the bench to get one back a consolation for the Gas.
Huddersfield dominated the early possession, but Rovers had the first chance of the contest. Promise Omochere displayed brilliant strength to protect the ball on the left from Nigel Lonwijk before sliding a pass across to the onrushing Scott Sinclair, who dragged his right-footed strike wide.
The Terriers continued their early pressure, with Mickel Miller proving to be a threat. The 28-year-old demanded possession on the left, looking to drive forward with the ball and cause problems for the Pirates defence. He raced towards the edge of the box and saw a curling effort cleared back to his feet before his second effort looped over the bar after a double deflection off James Wilson and Taylor Moore.
Radulovic then had two great opportunities to break the deadlock. Ben Wiles' low cross from the left was poked towards the goal by the forward, but Moore got across to deflect it wide. Marshall then forced Griffiths into a diving save to his left, with Radulovic spurning the rebound.
Sinclair did brilliantly soon after to clear Tom Lees' header off the line before Huddersfield gained the lead. The Gas struggled to clear away a corner, and Pearson fired his strike beyond the goalkeeper from close range.
Michael Duff’s men doubled their advantage three minutes later to take control of the contest. Lonwijk slipped a clever pass down the left through to Marshall, who drove an accurate effort across the goal and into the bottom corner past Griffiths.
Huddersfield remained in the ascendancy in the second half and scored a third goal after the break. Miller charged towards the byline and played a cutback towards Radulovic, with the striker having a simple finish next to the goal.
The hosts were full of confidence and almost netted again before the hour mark. Marshall showed some clever feet to trick his way past Moore outside the box and looked to score his second of the contest from range, but Griffiths pushed his effort away before doing enough to stop the rebound.
Forde, Ruel Sotiriou, Lino Sousa and Hutchinson were all introduced by manager Matt Taylor to try to swing momentum in Rovers’ favour, with the visitors causing Huddersfield more problems in their half.
Forde ran down the right and drove a low cross into the box. Omochere got a touch on the ball, but it fell to Hutchinson, who curled his effort past Jacob Chapman to reduce the deficit.
Sousa was also energetic off the bench and went close to scoring. The Aston Villa loanee won possession off Miller and rushed into the box before lashing his shot wide.
Jake Garrett was also brought on as Rovers pushed for a way back into the match, but they could not grab a second goal in the final stages to put serious pressure on Huddersfield.
