Bristol Rovers progressed to the second round of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Weston-super-Mare 3-1 after extra time.
The Gas took the lead just before half-time through Jamie Lindsay, who rushed onto Isaac Hutchinson’s cutback from the left to score his third goal in four outings at The Memorial Stadium with a first-time finish.
The Seagulls came out quickly after the break, with Josh Griffiths pushing away a header from James Dodd before Jordan Bastin fired in an equaliser.
Isaac Hutchinson blasted over, and Bryant Bilongo’s close-range shot was saved in the closing stages, with Rovers taking the lead in extra time.
Luke McCormick’s inviting cross was met by Connor Taylor, who thundered his header into the top corner to put the Gas ahead.
Grant Ward then added a third in stoppage time, curling a first-time strike from the edge of the box past Max Harris, securing Rovers' place in the second round.
Weston started the day on an impressive 16-game unbeaten run and were looking to unsettle their Sky Bet League One hosts with a fast start at The Memorial Stadium.
Dodd collected possession on the edge of the box and angled his low strike towards the bottom-left corner, looking for an opener, but Griffiths got down to scramble it wide.
The Gas survived the early pressure and almost went ahead after a scramble in the box. Hutchinson's inswinging corner caused plenty of problems, but some brilliant last-ditch defending stopped several close-range efforts from Connor Taylor and Taylor Moore crossing the line.
Hutchinson scored in the Gas’ previous game against Exeter City and proved a threat on the left again for Matt Taylor’s men. This time, he latched onto Chris Martin’s knockdown and looked to curl his right-footed strike in from range, but his goal-bound shot was headed away.
The former Walsall man was in the middle of the action soon later, getting onto the end of Jack Hunt’s dinked cross from the right but heading straight at Max Harris.
The Pirates were piling on the pressure, with a shot from Scott Sinclair saved well before Linday broke the deadlock just before the break. Hutchinson rushed down the left and played a cutback towards Lindsay for a first-time finish.
Weston came out well in the second half and twice forced Griffiths into action. Dylan Kajdi rushed through the middle of the pitch before his low strike was collected by the goalkeeper. Dodd then met Luke Coulson’s corner, but his header was beaten away.
Rovers could not nullify Weston’s bright start, with the visitors levelled just past the hour mark. Coulson ran forward on the counter and curled a pass across to the right towards Bastin, who moved into the box before driving his strike past Griffiths.
The Gas looked to respond with immediate effect and almost led again. Lindsay slipped a clever pass through to Hutchinson, who whipped his strike just past the post.
Luke Thomas, Luke McCormick, Bilongo and Ward were introduced in the final stages, with the hosts looking for a winner in normal time. Ward went close, blasting his strike from range just over the top-left corner.
Clinton Mola then broke down the wing and rolled a cross into Hutchinson, but he lashed his shot off target.
Rovers were in the ascendancy and should have taken lead with only moments remaining. Thomas lifted a fantastic cross towards McCormick, who headed the ball across to Bilongo, but his strike was saved.
The tense tie was forced into extra-time, with the Gas continuing their momentum and scoring five minutes in. McCormick collected the ball on the left and curled a right-footed cross into the box, with Taylor powering his header into the top corner.
The Gas continued to control proceedings and almost extended their advantage after a clever move. The hosts worked their way through Weston's press before Moore reversed a cross towards McCormick on the edge, but his tame strike was collected by Harris.
Rovers continued to look for another goal and found it through Ward. Thomas set the ball back to the midfielder, who curled his first-time effort across the goal and into the top-left corner to confirm the Pirates place in the next round.
