Ruel Sotiriou believes Bristol Rovers should have beat Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s after losing to the Lilywhites on penalties in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The Gas took the lead through Isaac Hutchinson in the first half, but goals from Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore on either side of the break gave the visitors the lead. Kofi Shaw then netted his first senior goal to level, but Spurs went 3-2 ahead after Damola Ajayi's low strike.
Luke McCormick equalised with a header to send the contest to penalties. However, after both teams converted five penalties, Oliver Irow struck the winner following Jake Garretts saved effort.
Rovers showed plenty of promise, especially with a youthful side. Sotiriou told BRTV that the team is going in the right direction and that he is getting closer to scoring his first goal for the side.
