Scott Sinclair insisted that the players will look to put things right against Peterborough United after losing to Wigan Athletic last Saturday.
The Gas had won their first two Sky Bet League One matches at The Memorial Stadium this season, beating Northampton Town and Cambridge United without conceding, but lost 4-0 to the Latics.
Rovers have collected seven points from their first six outings and are behind the Posh on goal difference.
Sinclair insisted that it’s been a difficult week but is adamant that the squad have reacted.
“It’s been a tough week,” he said. “For us, it’s about getting a reaction going out on the weekend. It was a difficult game, and the result didn’t go as planned, but it’s now up to us for everyone to show their character and make sure we put it right this weekend.
“I’ve definitely seen a reaction from the players. When you do get a defeat, the only way to put it right is to win the next game. We’ve been working hard all week, and I’m hoping we do put it right this weekend.”
Sinclair started the win over Northampton on the opening day and has played a role in every league fixture this season, with his previous five appearances all coming off the bench.
The winger stated that he is desperate to work his way back into the side and is helping the young players where he can.
“I always speak to the young players,” said Sinclair. “Obviously, I want to be on the pitch playing and helping the lads. If I’m not playing, then I help the young ones behind the scenes.
"We speak, and I give them my experience because, for some of these young players, it was their first 4-0 defeat. Going forward, we need to brush ourselves off and make sure we’re as positive as we can going into the weekend.
“Every time I step on the field I want to do as well as I can for the team. The main thing is that I want to be starting. But I speak to the manager and whenever he feels it is right to play, I’m sure I will.”
Sinclair is one of the long-standing members of the Rovers squad after joining the Club in 2022 and has made 60 league appearances for the Gas in that time.
He was named Club Captain before the beginning of the new season and is delighted with the new group but insists that there must be patience.
“The new group is great,” he said. “We’ve made some great signings, and it’s the time where everyone gels. I think it’s the first time I’ve been in a squad where there’s been so many additions.
“It’s going to take time, and we have to be patient. It’s still early days of the season, and I think when do all gel, I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
