Bristol Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce that the 2024/25 season will see the return of the iconic Bristol Rovers Surfer Flag.
After several years without a flag, the Club and Community Trust have worked closely with Tote End Old Boys who have kindly financed the purchase of the new super-sized flag, whixh will make its way across the Thatchers End before kick off at every home game this season.
Adam Tutton, CEO of the Community Trust said, "Having spoken with the owners, they were very keen to see us develop a positive fan experience on matchdays and this super-sized surfer flag will certainly help create an exciting atmosphere at the Mem.
"We would all like to extend our thanks to John Kayes and the Tote End Old Boys for making this possible. We also want to express our thanks to Steven Rex, who tided the supporter flags and the back of the Thatchers Terrace ready for Saturday's first home game of the season".
The club would appreciate fans helping to pull the flag from West to East across the Thatchers End before kick-off while keeping the flag tight from top to bottom. Please feel free to raise your hands above your head to help the flag move across the terrace. Please do not try to pull the flag from the volunteers who are kindly helping us to create a positive matchday experience for all.
The Club and Community Trust also suggest that any fans who may feel claustrophobic or who are neuro-diverse, to position themselves at the top or bottom of the Thatchers End for the ten minutes prior to kick off.
We appreciate your support in helping improve the matchday experience for all.
