Player Biography

Connor Taylor joined Bristol Rovers on loan from Stoke City in June 2021 before permanently transferring to the Gas in August 2023 on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Taylor started his career at Port Vale's academy before moving to Stafford Rangers. During that time, he represented England Schoolboys and was rewarded with a move to Stoke City on a one-year scholarship.

The defender was loaned to gain work experience at Ashton United in the 2020-21 season, making one appearance for the club in the Northern Premier League and another in the FA Trophy. Taylor then switched to National League North team Chester in the same campaign, playing on three occasions.

The 21-year-old returned to his parent club when his loan expired in January and made his debut for the Potters as a 17th-minute substitute in a 3-2 loss to Coventry City.

The following campaign saw the centre-back move on loan to Bristol Rovers. It was a successful season for Taylor, who made 42 league appearances for the Pirates and helped them gain promotion to Sky Bet League One.

He scored the second of the Gas' seven goals against Northampton Town in the match that saw them promoted and was given the Rovers' Young Player of the Year award.

Stoke handed Taylor a fresh three-year contract in July 2022 and made eighteen appearances, including eleven starts in the Championship. However, a massive portion of his minutes came at the beginning of the campaign, and he fell out of favour.

The 2023/24 season saw Taylor return to the Gas for an undisclosed fee. He started 30 matches in League One but struggled with a knee injury that he sustained in January and had to have surgery to try and correct the issue.
