Player Biography

Scott Sinclair rejoined Bristol Rovers in 2022 after coming through the academy at the Gas.

Born in Bath, Sinclair joined Rovers at nine-years-old and became the second youngest player to make his debut for the Gas after Ronnie Dix. The Englishman made a substitute appearance in 2004 against Leyton Orient in League Two at the age of fifteen years and 277 days.

The winger played again for the Pirates before signing for Chelsea in July 2005, debuting two years later in a League Cup semi-final match against Wycombe Wanderers.

He made five league appearances for the Blues. However, he spent most of his time on loan, having spells in the Championship with Plymouth Argyle, Queens Park Rangers, Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic before leaving permanently in 2010. Sinclair had lots of interest and moved to Swansea City on a three-year deal.

He was an integral player for the Swans and netted 27 goals in all competitions, helping Brendan Rodgers' men gain promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs, with Sinclair scoring a hat-trick in the final against Reading in a 4-2 win.

The 35-year-old again played an important role in the topflight for Swansea and scored eight goals as they finished in eleventh place, earning a move to Manchester City in August 2012.

However, his minutes were limited for the champions, only making two starts in the league and fifteen appearances across all competitions. Loan moves to West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa followed before permanently switching to the Lions in 2015.

Sinclair scored twice in 27 league appearances for Villa in the 2015/16 season and moved to Celtic ahead of the following campaign in August 2016 on a four-year deal. He was an immediate hit for the Hoops and won the Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year after scoring 21 goals in the Scottish Premiership.

He collected three league titles in his three seasons at the club before returning to England with Preston North End. Sinclair made 78 Championship appearances and scored eleven goals in his three seasons with the Lilywhites and moved to the Gas in 2022.

Sinclair made 57 appearances across his first two League One seasons and was appointed club captain ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

He also represented England at youth level and appeared at the 2012 Olympic Games for Great Britain, netting one goal in four games.
