Luke McCormick joined Bristol Rovers in September 2020 on loan from Chelsea before moving permanently in 2022 after a season with Wimbledon.
Born in Bury St Edmunds, McCormick joined the Chelsea academy at the age of six and spent most of his younger years at the Blues before going out on loan to Shrewsbury Town in 2019.
The midfielder made his debut in a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth but only made five appearances for the Shrews before his deal ended on January 2 2020.
The 25-year-old next tasted senior football in his first spell at Bristol Rovers, joining the club on a loan deal from Chelsea in the 2020/21 campaign. Rovers finished last in Sky Bet League One, but it was much more productive, making 39 appearances and scoring six goals.
McCormick's impressive performances earned him a permanent switch to the then League One outfit Wimbledon from boyhood Club Chelsea. It was more of the same for McCormick, who shined in a relegated side, netting seven goals in 40 outings.
He only stayed at the Dons for a single season, making a swift return to Rovers for an undisclosed fee, with the Gas assembling a new squad to tackle League One after an immediate promotion from the tier below.
Making 22 appearances in his first season back at the club, McCormick had to wait until the next campaign to score his first goal, but it was well worth the wait, netting a 98th-minute winner away to Charlton Athletic in a 2-1 victory at The Valley.
However, it was an injury-hit campaign for McCormick, who only started six games, making 16 league appearances overall.
