Kamil Conteh joined Bristol Rovers in January 2024 from Grimsby Town for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Born in Lambeth, Conteh had spells at Crystal Palace and Lambeth Tigers before joining Watford in 2018, signing his first professional contract in 2021.
The midfielder made his Hornets debut in a 4-1 loss to Leicester City in the third round of the FA Cup, coming off the bench for 16 minutes. Just under one month later, Conteh went out on loan to National League South side Braintree Town for the rest of the campaign and made his first appearance later that day against Eastbourne Borough in a 0-0 draw. Conteh went on to make ten appearances, scoring once.
Conteh then made a permanent switch to Middlesbrough after his contract expired at Watford, joining current Rovers player Bryant Bilongo. The 21-year-old was soon loaned to National League club Gateshead, initially until January, before extending his stay until the end of the season.
He made 41 appearances at the heart of Gateshead midfield and was part of the side that lost the 2023 FA Trophy final defeat to Halifax Town. Conteh's impressive displays saw him win the Supports' Player of the Season award and was noted for his "all-action performances on the pitch and vibrant personality off it."
Grimsby Town then snapped up the midfielder on a three-year deal from Middlesbrough, making 25 appearances in Sky Bet League Two before moving to Bristol Rovers in January of the same season for an undisclosed fee.
Conteh only missed two league matches that season after making the move to the Gas, appearing 17 times.
He is also a Sierra Leone international and was given his first of nine caps in a 3-0 loss to Togo in March 2022.
